Celtic gearing up for more transfer announcements

It seems clear by now that the moves for South Korean duo Yang Hyun-jun and Kwon Hyeok-kyu are complete and that the only thing we are now awaiting is a double announcement from Celtic.

Gangwon FC gave the game away with regards to Yang yesterday, with their club chief confirming the move and even the transfer fee in a press conference ahead of their match against FC Seoul.

It’s likely the club will announce the pair together, in a similar fashion to the moves for Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Daizen Maeda in January 2022.

The two players are not similar in any other respect apart from their nationality. Yang is a dynamic, dribbling winger who will look to make an impact in the final third. Kwon meanwhile is a physical, disruptive midfielder who will add a defensive option to Brendan Rodgers’ midfield.

However, a double announcement would make the maximum impact in South Korea and further boost the club’s profile in the region.

The players are set to become Celtic’s third and fourth signings of the summer transfer windows after similar moves for young prospects coming out of Norway and Australia. Celtic have clearly set aside a significant portion of the summer budget on pursuing players with potential.

Fans are still waiting on signings who can come in and immediately improve the first team, but there is plenty of time for all that. The club are following through on long-term interest in all the arrivals and getting in on their talents early could pay off big.

We eagerly await official word from the Bhoys and from the manager about what these latest signings mean for the club.
