Celtic have been given some encouraging news in their pursuit of Felix Horn Myhre.
Martin O’Neill’s side have been named as one club in the race to land the Norwegian international midfielder, who plays his football for Brann.
Loyal to the Bergen side, with whom he has finished second in the Norwegian title behind Bodo/Glimt several times, he has been linked with plenty of moves before.
However, with the 26-year-old now in the final two years of his contract, an auction is seemingly getting underway.
Brondby seem to be leading the race for Myhre, submitting bids which have fallen short of Brann’s valuation – but one insiders think he won’t be moving to Denmark.
How much of a priority is a defensive midfielder for Celtic in January?

Adam Larsen Kwarasey played with Myhre at Valarenga, ironically under ex-Hoops boss Ronny Deila.
Kwarasey’s words on his ex-teammate’s ambitions were certainly interesting, particularly regarding his interest from Celtic and Brondby.

Asked by Tipsbladet whether he could see Myhre moving to Brondby, he said: “No, not really.
“It depends on the money, but with all due respect to the Danish league – because Brondby is not a weak team – I don’t know how big a step it is.
“Brondby has developed a lot and looks better and better. But I don’t know how big a step it will be. I do know, however, that it will definitely be a really, really strong signing if Brondby manages to get Felix.
“But I have a feeling he won’t end up there. I don’t know why, but I think maybe he – again with all due respect – wants to go to a bigger league, since he’s also rumoured to be going there.
“Norway and Denmark are pretty similar, and Brann is also at a good level. So I don’t think it will be a super big step for him. I don’t know anything, but I have a feeling he wants something else.
“Felix Horn Myhre is a really good player who is intelligent, honest and hardworking.
“I would say that he is very stable and rarely plays bad games, and there are generally not many mistakes in his game.
“His game also reflects his personality. Here he is a very honest and nice teammate, who is also very intelligent off the field, and I would say that he has everything under control.
“He is very tidy in Norwegian – that is, orderly. And that is both on and off the field.
“In my eyes, he is clearly the best midfielder in the Eliteserien along with Patrick Berg in Bodø/Glimt.That is also why he is on the national team, so I only have positive things to say about him.”
Change my mind…
The career of Celtic target Felix Horn Myhre
Myhre played in the Norwegian lower leagues as a teenager, never really breaking into the first-team at Eliteserien level until his 20s.
He also spent time on loan at Bodo/Glimt. Disaster struck, however, when he first joined Brann, as the club were relegated in his maiden season.
After their return to the top-flight, they immediately established themselves as title contenders, with Myhre as one of their star players.
In 2024, he made his debut for Norway, and his since been linked with the likes of Trabzonspor, Elche and Copenhagen.
