Celtic have always had a long-standing interest in Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha.

Balikwisha has hinted that he would like to join Celtic on multiple occasions over the years, but nothing has advanced so far.

Antwerp have said they will sell Balikwisha if the right offer comes in as the 24-year-old is in the last year of his contract.

Contradicting reports about Balikwisha have emerged but if Celtic are insistent on bringing the winger in, they now face a new rival.

Championship club now linked with Michel-Ange Balikwisha

Sacha Tavolieri has been up to date with the Balikwisha pursuit for some time now and Celtic supporters have been hoping for the green light on the deal.

However, his latest update was slightly different as he revealed that Championship club Southampton have been linked with Balikwisha.

Thankfully, Tavolieri said that despite the links with a move to Will Still’s side, there is no formal interest in bringing the wide man to St Mary’s Stadium.

The winger even played in Antwerp’s 1-1 draw against Genk on Sunday night amid all the noise.

Celtic can’t keep hanging about for Michel-Ange Balikwisha

Celtic’s transfer policy has largely seen them wait to strike when the iron is hot but with Balikwisha, they’re in danger of missing out altogether.

Brendan Rodgers is crying out for wingers, particularly after Celtic’s performance against St Mirren where Daizen Maeda, Hyunjun Yang and James Forrest were the only options.

There is a huge Champions League qualifier coming up for the Hoops and if they don’t make a move quickly, they face missing out on him altogether.
