Celtic are reportedly keeping tabs on Orgryte defender Michael Parker.

The major rebuild expected of Martin O’Neill’s men this summer is yet to take shape, as July approaches without a single signing being completed.

Regardless, movement is inevitable, with several first-team players expected to leave. Defensively, things look to be a bit more settled.

Marcelo Saracchi’s future is yet to be secured by the club, and Parker could help plug this gap in the event that the Uruguayan doesn’t stay.

🤦‍♂️ Still no sign of an agreement for either of these two Celtic favourites to stay…

Celtic, Rangers, Anderlecht, Udinese and Strasbourg watch Michael Parker of Orgryte

According to journo Pete O’Rourke, Celtic, Rangers, Anderlecht, Udinese and Strasbourg are all keen on the 21-year-old.

He is 6 ft 4 in and left-footed, capable of playing as a central defender and at left-back.

Parker joined the Huddersfield Town academy in 2021, going on to spend time at Shrewsbury, Burnley and West Brom.

He never made a senior appearance for any of these clubs, though he spent time on loan in the National League North with Hereford.

He moved to the Swedish top-flight at the beginning of this season, and has seemingly done enough in ten league appearances to open up the possibility of

Martin O’Neill added a central defender in the January window in the shape of Benjamin Arthur on loan from Brentford.

The 20-year-old was largely a back-up player, with Liam Scales and Auston Trusty remaining Martin O’Neill’s first-choice pairing.

Across his six appearances, he looked more than capable for such a young and inexperienced defender who raised eyebrows as a signing.

Should Celtic fans be worried about O’Neill’s transfer comments?

As of yet, there is no indication that Arthur is being targeted for a return to Glasgow this summer — but some fans are taking a hint from a social media post last week.

Could he be worth keeping around next season? His lack of a single Premier League minute last season tells you that he is unlikely to have his needs met regarding playing time at Brentford.

He certainly looks like a more viable option than Parker, who is only just getting started in Swedish football.
