67 Hail Hail understands that the U20 World Cup golden ball winner Othmane Maamma is someone Celtic are keeping a close eye on.

Like many clubs, Celtic had scouts at the recent Under-20 World Cup, which was won by Morocco.

Their captain, Hossam Essadak, is another who caught the eye of the Hoops but he is also being monitored by Sunderland. It was Maamma who was the real standout, however, which led to him earning the title of being crowned as the player of the tournament.

Here at 67 Hail Hail, we have been told by Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey that Maamma is someone Celtic admire.

Maamma is playing his club football in the English second tier with Watford and recently made his first appearances for the club following his move from Montpellier.

Celtic are not expected to make a move for the attacker any time soon, especially as he has only been with his current club since July, but will continue to keep an eye on him ahead of any potential move.

Following his success at the U20 World Cup, the 20-year-old has finally featured in the first team for Watford, and the forward has been enjoying the love and warmth from supporters.

He told the club website: “I’m grateful for this and I’m very happy to feel this love from the fans.

“The club has always been here and supported me from the beginning and everyone has been working with me to help me.

“The World Cup came at the right time because I felt good. Now that is in the past, I just want to focus on Watford and do well for the club.”
