Celtic linked with loan move for Premier League youngster, deal may prove tricky

Celtic are probing the market as Brendan Rodgers looks to ensure he has adequate squad depth across all areas as the Bhoys seek to claim further silverware.

Paulo Bernardo, Kasper Schmeichel, and Viljami Sinisalo arrived this summer, though they are the only permanent additions at Parkhead. The window closes at the end of the month, meaning time is of the essence.

If you were to ask supporters what areas would be first in line to strengthen, left-back and striker would be on the list of both due to a dearth of options. Bolstering the flanks would also be on their to-do list.

Rodgers looks to have similar priorities. However, Celtic are unlikely to land Michel-Ange Balikwisha this summer from Royal Antwerp after reports emerged that he has suffered an injury that is worse than first feared.

In light of this, claims from the continent have the Bhoys in contention for the signature of a winger who plies his trade in the Premier League.

Celtic linked with Facundo Buonanotte

According to AD.nl, Celtic and Southampton are among the contenders to sign Brighton & Hove Albion youngster Facundo Buonanotte on a loan basis.

Feyenoord had been interested in the Argentina international, but due to ‘increased competition’ at De Kuip, the Dutch outfit have turned their attention elsewhere in search of alternatives.

Despite this, the report claims he is ‘expected’ to stay in England, so it remains to be seen whether that would be the case in any potential deal.

Celtic need more options across the front four, and Buonanotte would fit the bill as an exciting talent. There are still plenty of legs left in this story, which will no doubt be amplified by Matt O’Riley’s ongoing talks with Brighton over a transfer. Could there be room for manoeuvre with that in mind? It may be worth keeping an eye on.
