Celtic youngster Erskine Rennie has agreed a move to Fulham, Fabrizio Romano has reported.

The celebrity journo reported the news on Saturday, with the Parkhead academy losing yet another talented youngster.

The 16-year-old winger reportedly picked a move to Craven Cottage over several Premier League and European clubs.

Rennie is to sign a long-term contract with the West London club.

Erskine Rennie agrees Celtic exit to Fulham

Romano posted on his X/Twitter account, which has 28 million followers: “Fulham agree deal to sign 16-year-old talented winger Erskine Rennie from Celtic.

“Rennie picked FFC ahead of a number of English and European clubs and will join on a long-term contract.”

The winger, born on January 28, 2010 (sorry), developed through the club’s academy, scoring on his B team debut against Cumbernauld Colts in February.

In doing so, he became the youngest-ever goalscorer in the history of the Lowland League.

He isn’t the only talented winger in the system. Back in February, 15-year-old Zion Pullan generated headlines by being called up for Spain at youth level.

Just a week later, it emerged that Pullan was being tracked by Athletic Club, putting his future at the club at risk.

Then there’s 16-year-old defender Dara Jikiemi, who completed his move to Liverpool last week after months of talks.

Jikiemi is a Scotland youth international, who impressed captaining his country against Spain late last year.

🤔 Should Celtic buck the trend of not signing Scottish Premiership players and push to sign Josh Mulligan this summer?

Martin O’Neill on Celtic’s academy prospects

The Parkhead boss said back in April: “If I was here, I’d like to make room for younger players coming through.

“Myself and Fozzy [Mark Fotheringham] went to watch the B team. They played Brentford last Tuesday at Barrowfield and some of the younger lads, I know they’re not of the age at this minute, they are really impressive.

“So it is a balancing act of trying to be strong, still strong, and hopefully that these players can come through in the next couple of years.

“Because that would be lovely, that would be really nice to see young boys who’ve got the club at heart, who’ve maybe been in the academies here since they were about 12 or 13 to come through. And we’ve got one or two lads.

“It was an under-18s or 19s game against Brentford, but it was very impressive, both sides. So that was really good.

“I think we should have an eye on that, and not stifle young talent coming through, particularly here because Scottish football needs it.”
