Celtic are expected to make a new offer for Haissem Hassan, a report has claimed.

The winger is expected to be a man in demand after his exceptional performance for Egypt against Argentina at the World Cup.

Just 24 hours before that match, a rumour emerged that Celtic had made a £4 million bid for Hassan which had been rejected.

Now, another journalist in Spain is expecting the Hoops to make another offer for the 24-year-old.

Should Celtic take a £4m punt on Haissem Hassan?

Celtic expected to make €8 million offer for Haissem Hassan of Real Oviedo

According to Spanish journalist Christian Vaquero, Celtic are expected to make €8 million bid for Hassan.

Vaquero also says that several other clubs have approached Real Oviedo for the winger, including teams in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Along with Hassan, Celtic have also been linked with Egypt teammate Emam Ashour, who scored two goals at the tournament and plays his football in the country for Al-Ahly.

It’s not always the best-informed move to sign a player off the back of one performance, but Celtic’s interest in Hassan evidently pre-dated the Argentina match.

Hassan is a left-footed right-winger. He has just been relegated from La Liga with Oviedo, where he endured a torrid campaign.

In 38 appearances this season, he scored no goals and registered three assists. As they were promoted the season prior, he scored four.

In fairness, Nicolas Kuhn and Jota previously came to Glasgow after struggling numbers-wise – both went on to make the club a big profit.

He was born and raised in France, and received youth caps for the national team whilst playing at Chateauroux.

Martin O’Neill on future Celtic signings

O’Neill recently confirmed that he intends to add more signings in the coming weeks, with work ongoing.

He said: “We have a number of players that we’re looking at.

“And I’m hoping in the not-too-distant future, and I mean maybe in the next couple of weeks, that we will have some really decent players at the football club to add to the very decent players we have at the football club.”

Camilo Duran has already been confirmed as O’Neill’s first summer signing.
