Celtic are set to make a renewed push to sign goalkeeper Peter Vindahl Jensen despite Sparta Prague setting the bar high on a potential exit.
Jensen has been reported to be Celtic’s ‘number one’ goalkeeping target this summer as the Bhoys consider a future without retired star Joe Hart.
Celtic have been linked with over 20 shot-stoppers but the reports regarding Jensen have been the most enduring and credible over the last few weeks.
The route to securing the Dane is far from easy, however. Sparta Prague have only recently signed him permanently after a loan spell and do not want to let him go.
As a result, The Daily Record reports they’ve slapped an £8m asking price on the 26-year-old.

Celtic still think they can strike a deal for Peter Vindahl Jensen
Regardless, it’s said that Celtic think a transfer move can still be completed and that they’ll be making another push to bring him into the club.
It’s also reported that Jensen is keen on a switch to Scotland knowing that it could boost his chances of breaking back into the national team set-up and eventually making a move to the English Premier League.
It seems then that Sparta are the biggest roadblock in this transfer pursuit, so Celtic may end up having to pay a premium fee for the goalkeeper.
If Brendan Rodgers and his recruitment staff believe that Jensen can be a stable and consistent goalkeeper at Celtic over the next few years then £8m isn’t too extortionate given the resources available to the Scottish champions.
Sure, it may put pressure on his shoulders to deliver at the Bhoys early, but ideally, the club’s scouting shows that the Dane can cope with the demands of football in Glasgow.
Regardless, It’s time to get this one over the line or move on to new targets if he’s become too expensive for the Celtic board. The club can’t delay getting a goalkeeper in much longer.
