One player who would fit a new Celtic approach of acquiring premium young talent is Manchester City Under-23’s star Adrián Bernabé.

Predominantly an attacking midfielder, he finds himself out of contract at the conclusion of the current campaign [Transfermarkt].

Conceivably, Celtic are going to put more emphasis on developing youngsters to progress on a European scale. Given his contractual situation, Celtic should be looking to make an approach for the midfielder.

The Spaniard could be tailor-made for the Celtic first team. Intriguingly, he currently operates under Celtic linked manager Enzo Maresca. This may make a move to Celtic for the youngster genuinely possible if the Italian was to be appointed.

If rumours of Fergal Harkin joining the Celts from the Citizens as a sporting director are also true, Celtic may acquire multiple City recruits this summer to rebuild.

How would Adrián Bernabé fit in with the Hoops style of football?

The starlet possesses great technique alongside an extensive passing range which would suit Celtic perfectly. This is illustrated by his goal contribution rate in the Premier League 2. He has produced two goals and five assists from 11 outings, helping his team to top spot [Transfermarkt].

Given the amount of possession afforded to Celtic on a weekly basis, Bernabé would adapt well to a dominant team at the Hoops.

At 19-years-old, his contribution to a squad littered with talent shows how well he could hold his own at Celtic. These statistics demonstrate a high level of consistent performance against his peers. Feasibly, the playmaker would thrive in a senior environment and improve considerably.

Bernabe is rated at Man City. The former Barcelona youngster regularly trains with Pep Guardiola’s superstars and makes matchday squads. He was a regular on the bench in the group stages of the Champions League this season.

However, he has only made one senior appearance this term, in the English League Cup.

He could be the perfect start to the Celtic squad restructuring, whilst also providing healthy sell-on value later down the line.

Excited about a potential Maresca-era Celtic? This young fella is the kind of talent we could look forward to in the future if that comes off.
