Celtic attacking prospect Armstrong Oko-Flex is edging closer to an exit from the club.
Allnigeriasoccer.com reports that Crystal Palace are mulling over making a second offer for the young winger. Celtic rejected an initial bid at the end of the recent transfer window.
The Republic of Ireland international will also be considering his own options.
Oko-Flex’s contract expires at the end of the current season. That means he is free to talk to suitors in January about making a switch, though compensation will be due to the Bhoys.
His current Celtic standing
Given the youngster has failed to make any sort of progress in the first-team, it seems unlikely a new contract with Celtic will be agreed.
As it stands, he’s only managed to make one matchday squad since Neil Lennon arrived for his second spell as Celtic boss. He was an unused substitute against Hearts on the final day of the 2018/19 league season.
The teenager has found himself in the headlines on a couple of occasion throughout 2020 because of social media postings. It’s unclear whether that has impacted his progression into the senior squad.
A loss of Celtic potential?
In the past clips of highlights and goals for the youth and reserve teams have encouraged fans.
It’s not much of a surprise to hear clubs in England are keen on his services. He already has a background in London, having emerged from the Arsenal academy before making the switch to Celtic.
However, if he’s not anywhere near Lennon’s first-team at the moment, with our depth problems on the flanks apparent, it seems unlikely he has what it takes to make it at Celtic.
