It has been a long time since Celtic fans looked over to Hearts with envy.

Yes, Celtic are still the dominant force in Scotland, given what they have achieved in recent times, but Hearts, with their new data-driven analytics, have shown many how it should be done, especially in the transfer market.

One man who has epitomised the Jambos is striker Claudio Braga, who was signed from Norwegian side Aalesunds FK in the summer.

As Celtic search in desperation for a striker during the January transfer window, the name of Braga was put on the table on Open Goal, and it received the obvious response.

You have £20m to spend in the January transfer window. How are you spending it?

Claudio Braga at Celtic?

Let’s be honest, Celtic need a player of Braga’s qualities and finishing ability right now, and he is a big reason why Hearts are top of the table.

Speaking on Open Goal, Paul Slane has stated that he would ‘absolutely love’ the idea of Braga signing for the champions of Scotland.

Yes, it’s not going to happen because Hearts, who are on course for the title, wouldn’t even open the door for discussion.

But as Slane pointed out, the man born in Portugal has a lot of talent at his feet.

Si Ferry: “Here is another one, Braga, would you take him at Celtic?”

Slane: “Aye, I love Braga. Absolutely love him. Everything about him as a player.”

Ferry: “Do you think he could play centre-forward for Celtic?”

Slane: “Aye.”

Braga’s numbers for Hearts

It’s not just the goals that Braga brings to the table; it’s the all-round play, tireless work rate, and producing in the big games.

Braga has supplied three assists against Celtic and Rangers this term, as well as finding the back of the net at Parkhead.

He is up there for shouts of Player of the Year, so you can understand why there is so much noise around him.
