Celtic are interested in revisiting their transfer pursuit of Brondby striker Mathis Kvistgaarden in January, a new report has indicated tonight.
Football Scotland journalist Mark Hendry reports that the Bhoys have indicated to the Danish side they will return for the forward in the upcoming transfer window after failing to meet their valuation during the summer months.
It’s reported that Celtic were keen on a £4m move for the 21-year-old but that Brondby value him closer to £7.5m.
After more solid scoring at club level and continued appearances for the Danish U21s side, the Scottish champions are now willing to improve on their initial negotiations in an effort to land him for the second half of the season.
However, competition for his signature has increased and now Bundesliga outfits in Germany are showing interest. That raises the potential for clubs to make a bigger bid than Celtic.

Mathias Kvisgaarden interest makes sense for Celtic
While Brendan Rodgers won’t be specifically signing players to cover for the upcoming Asian Cup situation, bringing in an attacking talent he believes in makes a lot of sense in January.
Kvistgaarden has scored five goals and assisted five more in 15 appearances so far this term. He would be an exciting acquisition and has the potential to improve further under the tutelage of the Celtic coaching staff.
The player himself sounds ready to test himself in a different country too, delivering an open-ended answer when asked about transfer interest in him earlier this month.
It’s doubtful this rumour is going to go away until he signs up at the Hoops or ends up elsewhere.
