Celtic remain interested in bringing Mateusz Bogusz to the club and will push ahead with negotiations for his signing next week.

Bogusz was first linked to the Bhoys earlier this month when it became apparent Brendan Rodgers was looking to bring in two attacking midfield talents.

Augsburg talent Arne Engels has also been of interest to the Scottish champions, who looks to be more of a like-for-like replacement for Matt O’Riley. Celtic are said to also be in talks to seal his arrival.

O’Riley is in England this weekend to undergo a medical after Brighton agreed on a transfer fee with Celtic late on Friday night.

Celtic will make a renewed push to sign Bogusz

Sky Sports have reported that Celtic will wait until Monday to open up their discussions with LAFC for Bogusz as they play in the Leagues Cup Final on Sunday night. Bogusz is a key member of their squad.

Celtic have so far been willing to offer £8m for his services but it remains to be seen whether that kind of bid would be accepted.

The MLS outfit are believed to want more than that, per reports earlier this week.

Where Bogusz could fit in at Celtic

Although being heralded as a potential midfield signing, Bogusz has actually been utilised far more as an out-and-out attacker with LAFC this season.

He’s featured a lot on the right flank, as well as a centre-forward. So he could end up being used in a variety of positions at Celtic. Rodgers will view him as someone to light up in the final third primarily.

Per FotMob, the Polish star is very creative. He’s fashioned 2.26 chances per 90 minutes in the league this year, more than any other player. With 17 goals to his name, too, it’s clear to see why Celtic think he can make an impact.
