Celtic starlet Brody Paterson is the latest Hoops youngster to leave the club on loan, as he has joined Queen’s Park on a season long loan.
Queen’s boss Ray McKinnon seems delighted to have signed the winger, who is 19.
“I’m excited we’ve managed to get Brody to join us this season. He’s a very talented, athletic young player who will give us great balance and options up and down the left-hand side of the field” he said, as quoted by the official Queen’s Park website.
Similar deal to another recent Hoops loan exit
What is interesting about this deal is that it is similar to the one that saw Jonathan Afolabi move to Dundee. In that the player has signed a long-term deal with the club. Then the player moves on loan not long after.

Paterson signed a three-year deal with Celtic in May. Paterson is part of Celtic’s reserve squad, but of course at the moment there is no reserve football being played.
The fact that he signed a long-term deal during the middle of the football lockdown shows that Celtic must have high hopes for the player.
Sensible move in wake of no reserve football
As there is no reserve football being played at the moment, it is a sensible move by Celtic to give some of their youngsters a chance at regular football lower down the footballing food chain.
We have seen it with the aforementioned Afolabi in his move to Dundee. We have also seen it with Scott Robertson with his move to Gillingham.

Indeed, with the transfer window closing in three days time, it would not be a shock to see Celtic send more starlets out on loan. Indeed, it would be the right thing to do.
Is the standard at Queen’s Park, League Two in Scotland, the highest? Probably not. Still, it is allowing the player to presumably get regular playing time.
Good luck to Brody Paterson in his spell with Queen’s Park, hopefully he has a great season.
In other news, watch Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic work hard to be fit for their game against Celtic.
