Celtic told how Brendan Rodgers is ‘privately’ feeling about Kieran Tierney re-joining

Celtic fans won’t stop chanting Kieran Tierney’s name even if Brendan Rodgers states otherwise.

The Celtic boss has sparked a huge debate over the Arsenal man when he felt that Greg Taylor was being disrespected by his own supporters.

Rodgers clearly got the wrong end of the stick because, those who pay their tickets, were just chanting Tierney’s name because they truly believe he will return to the club and he also is seen as a hero at Parkhead.

Tierney is out-of-contract at Arsenal in the summer and it is expected that he will leave and a reunion with his boyhood club is on the cards.

If that happens, the reaction to it all is going to be interesting because Rodgers’ comments on Taylor might be brought up again.

Brendan Rodgers ‘excited’ by the prospect of re-signing Kieran Tierney for Celtic

Tierney dominated proceedings in Rodgers’ first spell at Celtic, and if he does come back, then he will find that not much has changed.

Celtic are still winning the trophies and Rangers are probably due to sack another manager with Philippe Clement under pressure from his own fanbase.

Either way, Michael Stewart thinks, despite that Taylor defence, in private, Rodgers is ‘excited’ by the prospect of Tierney donning the Celtic colours again, as he told BBC Radio Scotland.

“Absolutely (he made the comments to protect Greg Taylor),” agreed Stewart.

“That’s where I agree with him. The difficulty is, and I am pretty sure in his private moments he himself is perhaps excited at the potential return of Kieran Tierney.

“But I have got a lot of respect for what he did for Greg Taylor there. I think it was admirable. He has already made a few statements about Greg Taylor. How much he enjoys working with him and values him. I think it’s an interesting topic.”

Tierney’s record under Rodgers

The thought of Tierney and Daizen Maeda starting regularly on the left-hand side is one worth being excited about if you are a Celtic fan.

On the other side, Alistair Johnston and Nicolas Kuhn have built a strong partnership and they are going from strength to strength.

But that will be bettered if Tierney adds to the 127 appearances he has earned under Rodgers.
