Celtic told ‘key player’ for Brendan Rodgers is worth more than ‘£10 million’ amid exit rumours

Celtic are yet to make big noises during the January transfer window.

This is despite Brendan Rodgers stating that Celtic want to conclude transfer business this month, as they head towards the title and the knockout stages of the Champions League.

There has been a lot of noise about incomings, including talk of Kieran Tierney possibly returning to Celtic, but what about those who could possibly head for the exit door?

It’s understandable if the unfancied players or the bench players depart – Luis Palma is a prime example of someone who could leave because he just hasn’t cut it in green and white colours.

But surely Celtic aren’t going to lose a first-team player during the middle of the season, especially given the talk around Kyogo Furuhashi’s future.

Celtic told Kyogo Furuhashi is worth more than £10 million

Kyogo has been linked to the MLS, but whilst all of that goes on, the player himself has put his head down and got on with his job.

Tam McManus made it clear that he simply can’t see the Japan star leaving and he is someone who is always used in the big games by Rodgers, even if he hasn’t hit the standards he did under Ange Postecoglou.

Either way, with a price tag of ‘£10 million’ being floated around for the player, McManus stated that Kyogo is worth more than that to Celtic, as he told PLZ Soccer.

“Celtic have got a massive squad,” said McManus. “There will be players sitting on the bench and sitting in the stands who aren’t happy. They probably want to go.

“But you are right, he (Rodgers) is firing a warning shot to everyone in the squad. If you don’t want to be here, fine, go and we will replace you. There is nobody irreplaceable at the club.

“I don’t see anything in that with Kyogo. He hasn’t had a great season, in terms of goals. But you can see his quality. He played just off Idah at the weekend, his little flicks around the corner and the positions he took up. The goals he scored. You can see Kyogo, he is a clever footballer and a class player. He maybe takes a wee bit of stick from the Celtic support, but I think he is a key player for Celtic. You will see him in the big games as well, especially against Rangers and in Europe. Usually, he steps forward and gets you a goal, so £10 million? I think he is worth more than that for Celtic.”

Kyogo’s Celtic career in numbers

Celtic fans are forever grateful towards Postecoglou for bringing Kyogo to Glasgow because he will go down as a club legend.

As of this moment, he is still writing his name deep into the legendary books because he has provided many great memories for Celtic fans to remember.

Plus, it won’t be too long before Kyogo hits 100 goals for Celtic, but he will have to stay beyond this season to do that, unless he goes on a mad one from now until the final ball is kicked this season.
