Celtic fans wanted action, and they are certainly getting it this summer.

The 2025 summer transfer window officially opened last month, and Celtic have been busier than most, including bulking up their attack.

Everyone would have seen Benjamin Nygren’s transfer to Celtic being signed, sealed and delivered, but the wide areas could be one of the much-changed departments for next season.

After the final ball was kicked for the 2024/25 season, Brendan Rodgers knew he needed several wingers to come in, and he is going to need to make some big moves if he lets Nicolas Kuhn go.

‘Surprise’ at Nicolas Kuhn’s possible Celtic transfer exit

There are suggestions that Kuhn could join Como in Italy, who are managed by legendary midfielder Cesc Fabregas in a £17.2 million deal.

Gordon Dalziel described Kuhn as a ‘very, very good footballer’ and expressed his ‘surprise’ at his possible exit.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Dalziel noted how high the German set the bar when hitting his best form, and that Celtic will now go a ‘long way’ to replace his talents.

“Celtic looking maybe to get one of their key players out for what you say is a reasonable fee,” said Dalziel.

“I am a little bit surprised by that. I like Kuhn. I think, when he came into Celtic at first, it took him time. It was highlighted about the fact that he wasn’t 100% fit. He eventually got there.

“The beginning of the season last year, he was absolutely on fire. He was terrific. Took a little dip in the middle of the season, and then came back later on.

“You just wonder, will Celtic fans think that’s good business? Have Celtic just left themselves a little bit short in the wide areas? I think they probably have, just now, because of Jota being out injured long-term.

“But I am sure Celtic will be looking at other targets. They would have known this was going to come along. They will have a look at it and think, ‘is the price right?’ I just think Kuhn is a very, very good footballer, and I think they will have to go a long way to replace him.”

Kuhn’s Celtic career in numbers

It has been well-documented that Kuhn was a Player of the Year contender for the first half of last season, before his form dipped off.

That’s why his expected exit is dividing opinion, because when he has been on it, not many, if anyone, has been able to come close.

And even with that drop in form, as well as starting his Celtic career slowly, his overall numbers are just outstanding.
