Kieron Bowie has been strongly linked to Celtic for a while now.
But forget about just a striker, as a whole, Celtic need strengthening all over the shop, and so far, only one player has been signed during the January transfer window, and that’s Julian Araujo.
That was a loan signing from Bournemouth, but perhaps Celtic should look closer to home, and even somebody in the same changing rooms as the much-talked-about Hibernian striker, Bowie.
It could be argued that the champions of Scotland require some steel in the middle of the park; that’s why Josh Mulligan’s name has been mentioned on Open Goal.

Would you be in favour of Celtic moving for Josh Mulligan?

Celtic told to sign Josh Mulligan from Hibernian over Kieron Bowie
One of the frustrating things with this is that Mulligan was out of contract in the summer, and Hibernian snapped up the talented midfielder from Dundee.
Now that the 23-year-old has gone to another level, his name is being linked with Celtic, and Paul Slane made it clear that he would ‘take him’ right now.
Slane even suggested that he would sign Mulligan over Bowie, and how the midfielder is ‘that good’ that you simply ‘can’t turn that down’, as he told Open Goal.
Si Ferry: “You are saying Bowie right now, no?”
Slane: “I don’t think he has done enough yet for the price that Hibs want him to pay.”
Ferry: “Mulligan now. Would you take Mulligan right now in January?”
Slane: “I would take him right now.”
Ferry: “Is that a position they need to strengthen, though? Quite strong in the middle of the pitch, aren’t they?”
Slane: “But if they got that type of player in there, I don’t think they have.”
Ferry: “Engels is going to be that type of player, isn’t he?”
Slane: “But he hasn’t got the legs. He is that good, Mulligan. I don’t think you can turn that down.”
Kieron Bowie to Celtic… yes or no?
Mulligan’s season for Hibernian in numbers
Celtic are actually stacked with midfielders, but there are several issues with several of them, and there is also a lack of balance.
Arne Engels continues to divide opinion, Reo Hatate will probably leave in the summer, Luke McCowan hasn’t established himself as a first-team regular, Paulo Bernardo hardly plays, and there is too much onus on Callum McGregor.
A midfielder of Mulligan’s type would be more than welcome at Celtic.
