Celtic have learned how much they will have to pay to sign BK Hacken star Silas Andersen in the January transfer window.

A report claimed that Celtic and Rangers have been linked with Andersen, who has been impressing in Sweden’s top flight.

The Hoops have a history of recruiting from Scandinavia, and the Denmark U21 international looks like he could be a smart pick-up.

However, they may want to reconsider after hearing how much the midfielder would cost.

Celtic learn asking price for Silas Andersen

Hacken turned down a bid of £3.6m from Copenhagen in the summer, and news of interest across the continent has seemingly left them thinking that they can add a few more million onto the deal.

According to Fotboll Direkt, the Swedish top flight side would entertain offers in the region of £8.6m.

That wouldn’t be a record signing for Celtic, but would rank as one of the most expensive deals behind the £9m transfer for Adam Idah and £11m fee for Arne Engels.

Silas Andersen would answer huge problem for Celtic

As successful as the Bhoys have been over the years, the one thing they have been missing is a defensive midfielder that can sit alongside Callum McGregor.

The 32-year-old isn’t getting any younger and needs fresher legs next to him to run the hard yards and operate in a box-to-box role.

Andersen would be able to buzz about the middle of the park, breaking up the play before joining the attack and allowing McGregor to sit in front of the defence and offer an extra layer of protection.
