Elversberg move gives Celtic a Campbell problem
Celtic are still in the race, but according to Sky Sports’ Patrick Berger, Elversberg have got talks ‘in full swing’.
Berger posted on X, “Exclusive: Elversberg wants to sign Cole Campbell.
“Talks are in full swing. #BVB informed about SVE’s interest. A permanent transfer is preferred, alternatively a loan is also being discussed. Celtic Glasgow still in the mix, as reported.”
If Celtic want Campbell, they may not have long to make their move.
Elversberg also have something to offer the young winger. They are heading into the Bundesliga for the first time after finishing second and scoring a league-high 64 goals.
Celtic must be honest about Cole Campbell
Nobody should pretend Campbell walks straight into Celtic’s starting XI.
Campbell joined Hoffenheim on loan from Dortmund in January with an option to buy, but the move did not lead to a permanent deal.
Hoffenheim later decided not to activate the option, with Campbell making just five appearances during the six-month spell with no goals or assists.
Campbell is far from the finished article.
He is also under contract until 2028, leaving Dortmund in control of any deal.
Celtic either see Campbell as the right signing or they don’t. Elversberg’s move means they will soon have to decide.
