Bundesliga side Union Berlin have confirmed the signing of Josip Juranovic from Celtic this afternoon.

Juranovic took in his last Celtic game as a spectator during the Scottish Cup win over Greenock Morton yesterday before travelling to Germany for a medical.

That’s gone through without a hitch, as expected, with the German club confirming the deal to their supporters moments ago.

Sky Sports have reported Celtic will receive an initial fee of £7.5m with add-ons potentially taking the total value of the transfer to £10m.

Juranovic, 28, made 53 appearances for the Bhoys in a short and sweet spell that resulted in success and the player becoming a favourite with supporters.

Last season he was an integral part of the side that won a league and cup double.

The right-back told his new club’s official website: “The move to Union fulfils my dream of being able to play in one of the best football leagues in the world. The Bundesliga is intense and robust, which is good for my game.

“I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans at the Alte Försterei soon. I want to improve even more in Berlin and take the next step in my career.”

Yesterday, manager Ange Postecoglou and teammate David Turnbull wished Juranovic well on his travels making it clear that although he’ll be missed, it’s fully understood why he’s taken this career step.

Celtic make a decent profit on his sale too, having already reinvested some of that cash into the purchase of replacement Alistair Johnston.

With Postecoglou also talking up Anthony Ralston’s future opportunities, the Bhoys are well-stocked in the position moving forward.

All the best Josip!
