Celtic are shopping in the English Premier League again as the Bhoys continue to search for the transfer incomings every fan craves.

Multiple positions in the team from defence to midfield and the attack need to be strengthened if Brendan Rodgers is going to be given the squad he truly wants to compete on all fronts.

The club will be looking in all different kinds of markets but we know that the manager likes to cast his eye to the Premier League to see if any quality is available at the kind of prices Celtic can deal with.

Hugo Bueno, Facundo Bunoanotte and a couple of Liverpool talents have all been linked recently with no breakthrough in getting a transfer over the line.

Now the club are reaching out to another club down south for one of their proven squad members.

Celtic enquire about Jeffrey Schlupp

Sky Sports reports that Celtic are asking Crystal Palace about the availability of Jeffrey Schlupp, who has played over 230 games for the Selhurst Park side.

Notably, it’s also said by the broadcaster that Palace are willing to do business and allow him to leave the club this summer.

The 31-year-old only has a year left on his contract so he wouldn’t break the bank, despite Palace triggering an option clause in his deal back in May.

Where Schlupp could fit into Celtic

Schlupp, described as possessing great ‘power and speed’ by former teammate Andrej Kramaric [Pulse], has that dreaded description of a ‘utility player’.

Last season he played predominately on the left flank, while in 2022/23 he featured regularly in central midfield, also filling in on occasion at left-back.

He ticks a lot of boxes – strong experience at the highest level, attributes that we know the manager likes and the ability to slot into various positions around the team.

He might not be a massive upgrade on any starting spot in the team but as Rodgers rounds out his overall squad options he could fit the bill and get plenty of minutes in a Celtic shirt.
