There have been a lot of interesting names thrown into Celtic’s transfer ring in recent times.
But one of the more interesting ones, and one that won’t go away, is a certain Bologna midfielder, Lewis Ferguson.
Celtic recently drew with Bologna in the Europa League, and Ferguson, whose dad and uncle played for Rangers, started in the middle of the park.
Given those connections, how would Lewis’s dad, Derek Ferguson, feel if his son put on the famous green and white colours?

Should Celtic sign Lewis Ferguson despite Rangers connection?

Derek Ferguson questioned over his son Lewis possibly joining Celtic
Even before Celtic’s trip to Italy, there has always been talk and speculation around Lewis Ferguson possibly playing for the Hoops.
Now, Ferguson junior has never played for Rangers, but he was in the club’s ranks before representing Hamilton and Aberdeen at the start of his senior career.
Game time has been mixed for Lewis at Bologna, after previous success, including getting into the Champions League and helping the club win the Coppa Italia last season – their first major trophy in 51 years.
Just like every dad would, Derek has been very supportive of his son’s career, and he would regularly travel to Italy to watch the Scotland midfielder in action.
The Open Goal panel brought up the possibility of Lewis playing for the champions of Scotland, and if Derek would go to Parkhead and watch him in action.
It’s fair to say that it was a blunt and simple ‘no’ from Ferguson senior.
Si Ferry: “Lewis Ferguson at Celtic.”
Paul Slane: “Wow, it looks like it’s happening.”
Ferry: “We have had inside info, it’s happening.”
Slane, on the wind-up: “From his dad’s mouth, this morning.”
Ferguson looks at his sheet: “Where does it say that?”
Slane: “Is that something that could ever happen?”
Ferguson: “It’s something that I can’t affect, anyway. I have said it 100 times on here. He is his own man. He makes his own decision.”
James McFadden then jokes: “Is it just a loan, or is it just a transfer?”
Ferguson: “You would love that, wouldn’t you? I don’t know how I would deal with that. You are right. I don’t know.”
Ferry: “Do you know you get the free Bologna jackets. Would you take that (Celtic jackets)?”
McFadden laughs: “Watch him next week. Full Celtic trackie on.”
Ferry: “Martin O’Neill’s tracksuit. Martin O’Neill’s Adidas tracksuit.”
Ferguson: “Too far. To f___ing far.”
Gordon Dalziel: “Would you go to the games?”
Ferguson: “No.”
Dalziel: “Would you not, if your boy signed for Celtic?”
Ferguson: “No.”
Slane: “Would you try to hinder the move?”
Ferguson: “I can’t envisage that. I can’t even. I don’t know. It’s too scary.”
