Dominic Livakovic’s future has now been decided after a summer-long transfer saga. The Croatian goalkeeper had been linked with a summer move to Celtic.
Reports in Turkey have said that Livakovic is set to seal his move to Turkish giants, Fenerbache this week. Aksam Sport reported that the 28-year-old will sign a four-year contract after Dinamo Zagreb negotiate their third-round Champions League qualifier against AEK Athens on Wednesday night.
This brings to an end the rumours suggesting that Brendan Rodgers was looking to bring Livakovic to Celtic Park as part of his summer recruitment plans.
Reports did claim that the deal was agreed in the middle of July but, almost one month later, the Croatian is still a Zagreb player. The Celtic fans would have been hoping that the move to Fenebarche had broken down, but he will now make his move to the Turkish Super Liga in a €9m move.
Celtic’s hunt for a new goalkeeper moves on
It has been reported that Celtic are in the hunt for a new goalkeeper this summer. Whilst Joe Hart is still Brendan Rodgers’ No1, he only has one year left on his current contract.
At 36 years of age, it is not known whether Hart will continue on at Celtic or whether he will move on at the end of the season.

Either way, strengthening the goalkeeping department does need to be addressed. Hart will not go on forever and our backup options in Ben Siegrist and Scott Bain do not have the necessary quality to take us forward.
With the goalkeeping position being such an important role in the team, Rodgers can ill afford to get this one wrong. Especially after what the Celtic fans witnessed when Vasilis Barkas was brought in as the number-one keeper back in 2020.
There is still some time to go in the transfer window for Brendan Rodgers to decide if he is going to address the goalkeeping position but if he is, he will need to move fast as the clock is ticking.
