Former Celtic winger Jota is a target for Fenerbahce, according to a report.

Turkish outlet Sporx say that the Super Lig side are ready to swoop after the Portuguese winger encountered problems in Saudi Arabia.

Jota joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad at the start of the summer, teaming up with the likes of Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante at the Jeddah club.

However, it now seems like his deal will be cut short for reasons that are still not totally clear.

It’s a bizarre situation, especially given that Al-Ittihad forked out £25million for his services a matter of weeks ago. (Sky Sports)

But Fenerbahce may be about to take advantage. Sporx say that the club’s administration have been closely monitoring the situation and will start their “operation” if and when Jota’s exit from Saudi Arabia is confirmed.

If the move did come off, Jota would be a team-mate with former Rangers player Ryan Kent.

Given that the pair are both best on the left-wing, they would be in direct competition for game-time. We know who our money would be on.

Jota would also be on the same side as goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic who has been monitored by Celtic in recent times. The Croatian’s move to Istanbul is set to be announced imminently, according to Fabrizio Romano.

So it’s all happening at Fenerbahce. Time will tell if that’s where Jota ends up too.
