Celtic have announced that Mohamed Elyounoussi has signed a new season-long loan deal to stay with the Scottish champions for our 10-in-a-row push.

Reports had emerged from Norway earlier today signalling that Elyounoussi had made the decision to stay in Glasgow rather than make a move to La Liga with Real Betis.

The attacking midfielder’s first season at Celtic Park was impacted by injury but everyone will be hoping he’s put those troubles behind him and can now push on to show what he’s really made of.

He still demonstrated real quality at times last term, scoring seven goals and assisting six more in 20 appearances across all competitions.

If the Norwegian international can keep himself fit he’ll be a prime pick in Neil Lennon’s starting eleven most weeks, likely competing for that left flank spot with emerging talent Mikey Johnston.

This deal signifies that Celtic aren’t messing about when it comes to ensuring that the manager has big players in his squad this coming season, despite the financial pressures of the ongoing pandemic.

Fans are absolutely loving the announcement, feeling he is the calibre of player we need if our incredible recent success is going to be maintained.
