Brann have confirmed that they will not be selling Felix Horn Myhre before the deadline.

Celtic were in the race for the midfielder, with Martin O’Neill keeping an eye on his midfield options ahead of potential exits.

They were not alone in the race for Myhre, with Brondby seemingly poised as the favourites to land his signature.

However, in an unusual move, his club have released a statement on his future, confirming that his exit will not be facilitated in this window.

That’s despite the 26-year-old’s contract not exactly the most lucrative, and the Norwegian league currently being in its off-season.

Towards the end of the window, a host of new clubs entered the race for Myhre, including Bodo/Glimt and Elche.

The latter made a £1.4 million offer, but the club’s valuation of Myhre was reported to be more than double that.

They have now confirmed that the player won’t be leaving, in a statement given to Norwegian outlet Tipsbladet.

The statement reads: “Transfers are not something we normally comment on, but we can confirm that there has been a lot of interest in Felix.

“His situation has been discussed at board level. We have concluded that we will not sell him in this window.

“The reason is sporting, but it is also about the fact that we have sold three players in this window already. This means that it will be difficult to sell now.”

The address leaves the door open to a summer exit for the midfielder, who has been with the Norwegian club for four-and-a-half years.

He has recently been urged by Norway manager Stale Solbakken to move to a higher level to retain his place in the squad.

The career of Celtic target Felix Horn Myhre

Myhre played in the Norwegian lower leagues as a teenager, never really breaking into the first-team at Eliteserien level until his 20s.

He also spent time on loan at Bodo/Glimt. Disaster struck, however, when he first joined Brann, as the club were relegated in his maiden season.

After their return to the top-flight, they immediately established themselves as title contenders, with Myhre as one of their star players.

In 2024, he made his debut for Norway, being linked the likes of Trabzonspor and Copenhagen before this winter.
