Former Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster looks set to get his first big chance at Southampton for close to two years.
Saints face Liverpool at home in the English Premier League on Monday night.
Forster has been on the bench for every Southampton game this season behind Alex McCarthy.
However, the number one has been diagnosed with Covid-19 and is a confirmed absentee tomorrow, as confirmed by the club on Twitter.
Forster hasn’t played for the club since May 2019, but it now appears he’ll get a huge chance in a high profile fixture.
Blow for Celtic?
Celtic’s interest in the giant goalkeeper hasn’t been confirmed, but there was speculation late last year that the club might look to the former Neil Lennon favourite during this transfer window [Daily Record].
Vasilis Barkas has struggled since joining the club in the summer and Scott Bain isn’t the answer either. That leaves just Conor Hazard, who the manager didn’t trust with a starting spot at Ibrox.
Celtic may not even be in the market for a goalkeeper having spent a fair chunk of cash on the Greek international just months ago.

If we are though, a Forster return looks more unlikely than ever.

In other news, fans are desperate for one position to be strengthened this January.
