Four Celtic transfer links fizzle out as clock ticks on underwhelming winter window

A new report on Tuesday night has indicated that four of the players linked with Celtic in recent weeks won’t be joining the Bhoys during this transfer window.

Football Scotland journalist Mark Hendry reports that left-back Tiago Araujo and striker Mathias Kvistgaarden won’t be arriving in Glasgow.

Araujo has been reported as a Celtic target for months but things on that front had gone quiet recently.

Reports linking the Bhoys with Brondy forward Kvistgaarden stretch back to the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, it’s stated that Celtic are not interested in signing forward Sydney van Hooijdonk from Bologna despite the player being permitted to leave Italy.

Sky Sports have indicated that Norwich City are now in talks with the Italian club for his signature.

In addition, the Football Scotland report states that as of this evening, there is no substance to online rumours linking Celtic with a loan move for Danny Ings from West Ham United.

Celtic still hunting for new recruits in transfer market

The good news is that it seems Celtic are still keen on adding a left-back and striker to Brendan Rodgers’ squad before Thursday’s deadline.

However, it increasingly looks likely these will be late loans rather than long-term targets arriving on permanent transfers.

Nicolas Kuhn is, so far, the only arrival in an underwhelming window and the pressure is on Celtic to deliver.

Fans will not hesitate to show their displeasure if they think the club have once again failed to deliver what is needed to give the team the best chance of success.

Everyone will be looking towards Rodgers’ own reaction, too, after he made it clear on multiple occasions that he was keen on an injection of quality when it comes to playing personnel.
