Elijah Just’s World Cup has backed up everything Celtic’s scouts saw months ago. But now comes the difficult part.

Overseas journalist Michael Burgess has reported that clubs from Britain and France are tracking the Motherwell winger after his impressive tournament. No clubs have been named, but Just’s World Cup has not gone unnoticed.

Celtic have been watching Just long before the World Cup. Those performances only reinforced why Celtic were watching in the first place.

Celtic have already been proved right on Elijah Just

Every World Cup performance has justified why Celtic were watching him in the first place. The winger has looked comfortable on the biggest stage and he has looked every bit the player the Parkhead scouts believed they had found.

That also backed up what Stephen McGinn said about Just being exactly the type of player Celtic should be targeting. Spotting talent deserves credit. Signing it is what Celtic fans remember.

Celtic now know Elijah Just will not stay under the radar

Burgess’ report does not mean Celtic are losing out. It does mean they are unlikely to be the only club watching for much longer.

Just’s World Cup displays have certainly caught the eye of other clubs now. Strong tournaments attract attention and the Motherwell star has earned every bit of his.

Celtic’s scouts have played their part. The responsibility now sits with the people inside the club who decide whether interest becomes an offer.
