Gianluca Di Marzio drops Nicolas Kuhn transfer update as Celtic star ‘overtaken’ in Como’s winger hunt

Nicolas Kuhn is a wanted man this summer.

The Celtic winger was outstanding last season, particularly in the months before Christmas, as he scored 21 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions.

His form dipped considerably towards the end of the campaign, but that hasn’t deterred the likes of RB Leipzig and Como 1907.

The German and Italian sides are interested in signing Kuhn, with talks at a more advanced stage with the Serie A club than with RB Leipzig.

Cesc Fabregas wants to sign Kuhn, according to Corriere dello Sport, but respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has now delivered an interesting update.

Di Marzio published a new article on his website regarding Como’s chase for two new wingers, with a deal said to be agreed for Real Betis youngster Jesus Rodriguez.

Essentially, it’s now between AZ Alkmaar’s Jayden Addai and Kuhn for Como – and Di Marzio claims Addai is leading the charge.

He says that while talks between Como and Celtic continue in regards to Kuhn, Addai is closer to joining the Italians than the German star.

Di Marzio wrote: “Como works on the three-quarter line: Addai moves up the ranks on Kuhn, working to find an understanding between the clubs.

“Como continues to move decisively on the market to strengthen the offensive department available to Cesc Fàbregas.

“The aim remains to give the manager at least another quality attacking winger, and these days AZ Alkmaar’s Jayden Addai is gaining ground on Celtic’s Nicolas Kühn.

“For Addai, the Lombards want to sink the blow. Different story for Kühn: the negotiations with Celtic continue, but at the moment there is still no agreement between the clubs on the figures of the deal.

“Como has not completely abandoned the path that leads to the German winger born in 2000, but at the moment Addai is the hottest name and the closest to wearing the white and blue shirt.”

Hope for RB Leipzig?

With Di Marzio’s update, it feels Como are more likely to agree a deal with AZ Alkmaar than they are with Celtic, as it stands anyway.

Como and Celtic haven’t yet agreed a potential fee, which suggests the Hoops are holding out for as much as possible.

It was reported in the German press that Celtic want £17m for Kuhn, so it could be the case that Addai can be purchased for less.

This could present a greater opportunity for RB Leipzig to sign Kuhn, particularly if Como drop out of the running and fully pursue Addai.
