Kieron Bowie is one of the men on Celtic’s transfer wishlist.

After failing to sign Kelechi Iheanacho, Celtic can’t afford to be lagging and missing out on yet another striker that Martin O’Neill needs.

The issue for Celtic is that they face serious competition for Bowie’s services, including from the country he is currently plying his trade in.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has explained on social media that Cagliari and
Sassuolo are keen on signing Bowie, with the latter ahead in the transfer race for the 23-year-old’s signature.

Kelechi Iheanacho won’t return to Celtic. How do you feel Celtic fans? 🤔🍀

Martin O'Neill has defended the call…😬

Cagliari and Sassuolo have ‘direct contact’ for Celtic transfer target Kieron Bowie

Bowie left Hibernian in January and joined struggling Hellas Verona in Serie A.

Despite scoring four goals in 14 matches, Verona were still relegated to Serie B, but it was enough for the Italian sides to take notice of Bowie’s talents.

Celtic were tipped to sign Bowie long before he moved to Italy, but now his stock has grown, with Di Marzio explaining that Verona have ‘already received two offers’ from Cagliari and Sassuolo for their player.

It seems as though Serie A is the ‘focus’ for Bowie this summer, and remaining in Italy’s top flight.

If Celtic are serious about Bowie…

Camilo Duran has made a fantastic start at Celtic, but O’Neill needs more firepower, with the new season just weeks away.

This is even more significant because it seems like Daizen Maeda is about to leave and join newly promoted Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

Added to that, there is no Iheanacho for next season, and Johnny Kenny is currently injured.

All in all, ahead of the new Premiership campaign and those all-important Champions League qualifiers, Duran is currently the lone man up top, and that’s a lot of pressure on young shoulders.

So, if Celtic are serious about signing Bowie, then they need to act fast because it seems like someone else might just swoop in and sign him very soon.
