Gordon Dalziel blasts claim Celtic should have signed Premiership striker to replace Kyogo Furuhashi

Celtic only added fuel to the fire when they didn’t sign a striker during the January transfer window.

If that number nine had come in, then Kyogo Furuhashi’s exit wouldn’t have got as much limelight and air time as it has done.

But then questions started to be raised as to why Kyogo was allowed to leave, even though Brendan Rodgers shared that he wanted to head for the exit door months before he did.

As of this moment, Celtic have responded pretty well on the pitch because they are scoring for fun, including netting 11 in the last two home matches.

Adam Idah is hitting his best form and Daizen Maeda netted a hat-trick against Raith Rovers, but you presume this striker talk won’t go away.

Simply because you can’t please everyone and also how will this affect the team as they prepare for those two huge matches against Bayern Munich in the Champions League?!

Celtic told they should have signed Simon Murray to replace Kyogo Furuhashi

Yes, that striker didn’t arrive, but there was a lot of talk and links with players during the winter window.

Danny Ings’ name popped up, including the much-talked-about Brondby hitman, Mathias Kvistgaarden, but none of them were signed.

It left one Celtic fan annoyed and he suggested the club should have signed Simon Murray on a short-term loan deal from Dundee.

But an irate Gordon Dalziel was having none of it and claimed ‘honestly, it’s not happening’, as he told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

The Celtic fan claimed ‘losing Kyogo and not replacing him, it’s an absolute joke’, before adding that ‘I would have took even someone like Simon Murray just for six months’.

Dalziel had a look of shock on his face when that was suggested, before Marvin Bartley asked: “Just on that point then, you say to Simon Murray, you would have brought him in. Who would have been the number one striker with Simon Murray in the building?”

The Celtic fan added: “Still would have been Adam Idah”.

Dalziel stated: “You are playing against Bayern Munich. Jota will be up and running in the next two or three weeks guaranteed.”

Bartley asked: “So you wouldn’t have had a problem if Celtic would have brought in Simon Murray, Jota is on the bench and so is Simon Murray. And they bring on Simon Murray up front, before they bring Jota on the left. Murray doesn’t start for Celtic.”

An irate Dalziel then added: “Simon Murray, come on?! Come on, mate?! No, disrespect. Simon Murray for Dundee is brilliant. I love him up there. For Celtic football club, for six months, come on! Come on, mate! Honestly, it’s not happening!”

Murray’s stats for Dundee this season

Murray has captained Dundee against Celtic this season and he is a cult hero for the club, but that doesn’t mean he is worthy of playing for the champions.

Even for a short period of time, Rodgers is better off handing Johnny Kenny minutes and building up the youngster during the coming months.

Over the course of the campaign, Murray has netted 13 goals in all competitions.
