David Gray has addressed Celtic’s interest in Miguel Chaiwa of Hibs.
The Zambian midfielder moved to Edinburgh from Young Boys last summer and is already attracting interest at Easter Road.
Celtic’s interest in Chaiwa was first reported over the winter. His teammates Josh Mulligan and Kieron Bowie were also linked.
Asked about the reports, Gray said that he isn’t surprised.

David Gray says he ‘isn’t surprised’ by Celtic interest in Miguel Chaiwa
Via the Hibs Observer, the Hibs boss said: “I’m not surprised there’s interest. I’m not surprised there’s speculation.
“His energy and enthusiasm to get after the ball is excellent but, even when he’s on it, I think there’s still a lot to come from Miguel. He’s improving all the time.

“Getting up to speed quickly with the intensity and the physicality in the Scottish game, which suits him because he’s got the attributes – there’s still a lot more to come, he’s still a young boy.
“He’s still working hard on his game and improving his game. For the attributes, and main reasons why you want to try and bring someone like that to a football club, he’s got attributes that really can be showcased in Scottish football.
“Going toe-to-toe with people, physicality, running over the top of people – you can see that, in the games he’s played in. There’s still a lot of areas for him to improve on as well.
“The biggest thing for him is that he keeps his head down, keeps working hard – which he does do – because he knows he’s got a lot of things still to work on, which we are doing.
“He’s enjoying a run in the team, which is the most important thing for him. This is the business end of the season.
“I say it all the time: the games are huge. Everybody’s watching. The exposure that Scottish football has: not until you’re actually playing it, do you understand the magnitude of it, the amount it gets covered on TV and the exposure you get.
Especially with us competing at the right end of the table, for where we need to be. European football is the driving force for everybody.
“You talk about Miguel, about how well he’s done in Europe this season, having just joined the club.
“There’s a real sense for everybody in the squad that if we want nights like that again, we need to finish the season as strong as we can.”

Who is Celtic target Miguel Chaiwa?
An energetic midfielder, Chaiwa’s biggest strength is his ability to cover ground in a box-to-box role with Hibs.
The Easter Road club paid a fee of £600,000 to bring him to Scotland from Switzerland last year. He faced Celtic in the Champions League League Phase last year.
Aged 22, he has 16 caps for the Zambian national team and featured for them at this season’s Africa Cup of Nations.
He was particularly impressive in the Hibees’ win at Celtic Park earlier this year, playing a one-two with Felix Passlack in the build-up to the winning goal.
