Celtic added their second transfer of the summer window when Isaac English joined the club yesterday.
The young Morton defender was captured by the Parkhead club after his contract was running down and will join the youngsters in Celtic’s B team squad.
Whilst English was highly rated at Morton, it appears that Celtic have paid a paltry fee for the 17-year-old defender.
And if this deal works out and English progresses to the Celtic first-team, this will have been a shrewd piece of business by the Parkhead club.

The bargain fee Celtic paid Greenock Morton for Isaac English
English was a pivotal player in Morton’s under-18 side as they won the Club Academy Scotland Performance League last season.
However, despite his undoubted potential, the Daily Record have revealed that Celtic paid Morton just £50,000 for the young defender.
The five-figure sum is what Celtic famously paid for Didier Agathe way back in the early 2000s and if the Hoops get anything like the sort of return as Martin O’Neill did from the French wing-back the club will be laughing.
Greenock Morton reveal Celtic put in the hard yards to land Isaac English
Greenock Morton will be gutted to lose such a highly-rated prospect and it appears that Celtic have really done their homework on the talented defender.
In a statement released on Morton’s official website, the Championship club said, “Greenock Morton FC can today confirm the transfer of Isaac English to Celtic Football Club for an undisclosed fee.
“Isaac, one of our professional modern apprentices, who was part of the CAS Performance League title winning side last season, as well as reaching the final of the CAS Cup, has been under the watchful eye of the Scottish Premiership champions for a period of months.
“Following discussions between Greenock Morton FC and Celtic FC, an agreement was reached for Isaac, who has been part of our academy for a number of years, to move to Parkhead and everybody at the club wishes Isaac well in his next chapter and we look forward to watching his future development.”
