How Reo Hatate feels about his Celtic future after mystery £10m bid was rejected

With Brendan Rodgers remaining focused on strengthening Celtic this summer, the Hoops boss will also need to fend off interest for his top players.

Celtic have already lost Matt O’Riley to Brighton as well as letting go fringe players like Sead Haksabanovic, Bosun Lawal and Hyeongyu Oh.

With less than two days of the transfer window to go, the Celtic boss will not want to lose any more first-team players after interest has emerged in Cameron Carter-Vickers and Reo Hatate this summer.

And whilst Celtic have rejected three approaches for Carter-Vickers the club has now had to rebuff a £10m offer for Reo Hatate yesterday according to a report in the Daily Mail.

French club make £10m Reo Hatate offer

According to the report, an unnamed French club lodged the multi-million-pound offer for Hatate and Celtic has told the Japanese midfielder that he is not for sale.

This isn’t the first time Celtic have had to field unexpected interest in Hatate as 67 Hail Hail discussed last month that an unnamed Russian club had an approach rejected in July.

That club has now been named as Zenit St Petersburg. Leicester City have also been named as a club who are monitoring Hatate but after the sale of O’Riley, Celtic are in no mood to allow the 26-year-old to leave the club as well.

Hatate in ‘no rush’ to leave Celtic

The good news for the Celtic supporters is that the report in the Daily Mail also states that Hatate is ‘in no rush to leave Glasgow’ and will not depart the club before Friday’s transfer deadline.

The Japan international has looked like a different player to that of last season after injury issues and lack of form affected his first-team appearances for Celtic.

Hatate has been in fine form for Brendan Rodgers this season and has already bagged two goals for Celtic in the opening five games of the domestic season.

If Celtic have any ambition to get out of the Champions League group stages this season, Rodgers will need Hatate as part of his squad.

The Celtic support will be glad to hear he is happy at the club despite previously telling of his ambition to one day play in one of Europe’s top five leagues and will eagerly look forward to Friday’s deadline passing in order to keep a hold of their star midfielder.
