Matt O’Riley has insisted he has no current plans to leave Celtic and is perfectly happy remaining at the Bhoys this summer to take on the Champions League challenge.
A variety of clubs in England have been keen on the midfielder this summer with Leicester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United all reported to be admirers.
O’Riley recognises that some sides are sniffing about but has made his stance clear – if nothing happens, he’s not pushing for an exit.
Speaking to bold.dk, the Danish U21 international said [Translated by DeepL]: “Yes, there are some clubs who have inquired about me. I can’t say which clubs, though. But while it’s great to know there’s a lot of interest in me, I’ve only got one thing on my mind and that’s to do well for Celtic.
“I have no plans to leave Celtic, so if nothing happens, nothing happens, and that’s fine. I’m really happy to be at the club where we’re also going to play the Champions League, which I’m really looking forward to. It’s huge.
“I am aware and have heard about the interest from some of the big clubs, but I must admit that it is not something that I think about so much.”
The January signing has already become a key part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans so it would likely take a monster bid for Celtic to even consider selling.
In fact, reports have indicated that the Bhoys are taking a very firm stance on this apparent interest and see him as a player they’ll strive to keep a hold of this season.
