The January transfer window is reaching its halfway stage and Celtic are yet to make any major moves.
Both, from an incoming and outgoing perspective, it has been fairly quiet, with only a few players players heading out on loan deals.
Midfielder Odin Thiago Holm has joined Major League Soccer side, Los Angeles, on a loan deal and Stephen Welsh has also headed for the exit door to Belgian side, K.V. Mechelen.
Those are the deals that are written in small print, what the Celtic fans want is the big deals and whether or not anything standout will happen this month.
Johan Mjallby thinks ‘nothing major’ will happen, in terms of transfers, even though the rumour mill has thrown up some interesting talking points.
One name that has proven to be a topic of discussion, leading up to and during the January transfer window, is star striker, Kyogo Furuhashi and his future at Parkhead.
Johan Mjallby says Kyogo Furuhashi won’t leave Celtic amid MLS transfer talk
Kyogo started Celtic’s win at Ross County on Saturday and he netted a brace as he was handed a new role by the manager.
Whenever the Japan star heads for the Parkhead exit door, he will leave a legend, but Mjallby made it clear that won’t be any time soon, as he told Premier Sports.
This stems from talk that MLS side Atlanta wants to sign Kyogo, who joined the club when Ange Postecoglou was in charge in 2021 and has gone on to play 162 times for the Glasgow giants.

“No, they won’t, there is no chance,” said Mjallby about Kyogo leaving. “Like you said, this Young Boys game is going to be massive for the club.
“For the aspirations from the manager as well. He really wants to do well in Europe and they have a golden opportunity to get through, which is going to be massive for the club and everyone being a part of it. The league is already there. They have already won the title. Everything is looking rosy, good and great for them.
“Looking forward, are they going to look for players? Yeah, they always look for players. But I am not too sure nothing major is going to happen in this window, regarding Celtic.”
How many goals has Kyogo scored for Celtic?
Henrik Larsson is regarded as one of Celtic’s greatest-ever players and one of the best forwards of the modern era.
When it comes to who is the best, Larsson is always the barometer and Kyogo has a shout to say that he is the next best, albeit, it would be a pretty good debate.
Of course, Kyogo is still going and scoring goals, and as of January 14, he is just 15 goals away from raising his bat and scoring his century for Scotland’s greatest club.
