John Hartson makes bold claim ‘on record’ about Nicolas Kuhn’s Celtic future

There is no stopping Nicolas Kuhn at Celtic.

To be honest, not many saw this coming because when the 24-year-old first joined the club in January, life didn’t start like he would have liked.

Those early months in Celtic colours were difficult, but there were valid reasons behind it and now that they have been dealt with, everyone is seeing his true colours.

Kuhn has been the best player in Scotland this season, but it just isn’t the domestic stage where he is ripping it up for Celtic.

Celtic’s win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League was one of their best performances in Europe and he was at the heart of it with his brace.

Understandably so, the speedster’s stock is rising and there is already talk around his name in the transfer market.

But as John Hartson explained, that’s what happens when you perform at the highest level.

Given the financial situation Celtic find themselves in compared to, let’s say a Bundesliga club or an English Premier League team, then it puts them on the back foot.

If it was a level playing field, then Kuhn, or even summer departure Matt O’Riley, wouldn’t be going anywhere.

But that talk of Kuhn attracting interest from Premier League clubs has already begun, but Hartson has dismissed it all, as he told Go Radio.

The former striker made it clear ‘on record’ that Kuhn won’t leave the champions for at least the next two years, but he can ‘guarantee’ that, one day, Celtic ‘won’t stand in his way’ of progressing further.

“When big clubs are watching your players, it’s only because you are doing one thing and that’s you are doing well,” said Hartson.

“Celtic are never going to sell Nicolas Kuhn, I will go on record and say, year, 18 months to two years. They will keep developing him. They will want him to be a special player for them, help them win lots more trophies, and develop into a top person and a top player. 

“Then, when the timing is right, for Nicolas Kuhn and for the football club. In two or three years time, you have got a position where a brilliant, brilliant offer comes in and I guarantee you Celtic will not stand in his way. But like Matt O’Riley, like Kieran Tierney, they have done previously amazing things with the football club. That’s the situation he is in.”

You just sense that Kuhn can still go to another level and that’s pretty crazy given how well he has performed in these opening months.

To already be in double figures, for goals and assists, is crazy, but it’s a credit to the player and his mental strength.
