Where will Celtic’s next transfer move land?

As of this moment, Celtic fans want more from the market and feel that Brendan Rodgers’ squad is a little undercooked ahead of the new campaign.

One of the main topics of discussion is bringing in that much-needed striker because Kyogo Furuhashi hasn’t been replaced yet.

This is despite Kyogo leaving in January and joining Rennes, before securing another move, this time to Birmingham City in the English Championship, all the while, Celtic still haven’t got that proven number nine yet.

But how about another Parkhead hero coming back? Because Odsonne Edouard’s name has popped up.

Brendan Rodgers considering bringing back Odsonne Edouard to Celtic

Edouard spent three trophy-laden years at Celtic, before moving to Crystal Palace in 2021, but life has been a struggle at Selhurst Park.

Journalist Sebastien Vidal has claimed on social media that Palace have ‘put Edouard on the market this summer’ and Celtic are one of the clubs looking at the situation.

It has been claimed that Rodgers is ‘considering a return’ for the 27-year-old hitman who made a name for himself in Glasgow.

‘Crystal Palace have put Odsonne Edouard on the market this summer,’ wrote Vidal.

‘Celtic are monitoring the situation closely, with Brendan Rodgers considering a return for the 27-year-old striker he once launched in Glasgow.’

Thierry Henry on Edouard being ‘too good’ for Scottish football

When Edouard left Celtic, he displayed all the skills and qualities to thrive in a league as difficult as the English Premier League.

The Frenchman even had legendary striker Thierry Henry purring at his talents because, in 2021, the former Arsenal man claimed that Edouard was ‘too good’ for Scottish football.

“He’s a natural finisher,” stated Henry in 2021 to Sky Sports. “You see him here, in a derby, as soon as his midfielders get the ball he wants to go in behind.

“He is not interested in controlling it. He will swivel and try and shoot. Same again here, he could have taken the ball, but he’s not interested. Let me get into the box, I swivel, and the ball goes in between the legs of the defender.

“He’s in the box doing what he does best, scoring goals. My only question mark was when he is playing in Scotland, was can he do it in the bigger league. No disrespect to the league in Scotland, but he was too good for that league.”

But it’s fair to say that his time in England’s top-tier has just been getting worse and worse, including during the recently concluded campaign.

Whilst Edouard was struggling and suffering relegation on loan at Leicester and not even making matchday squads, Palace were winning the FA Cup and producing one of the greatest days of their history.
