For large parts of the January transfer window, everything seemed pretty quiet on the Celtic front, but it now seems to be kicking off.

Incomings and outgoings are expected at Parkhead, with journalist Alex Crook sharing that it could be ‘quite busy’ for those in the Parkhead boardroom.

One line that the transfer expert says has just come through to him ‘in the last few minutes’ is Celtic being open to offers for James Forrest, as he told talkSPORT (01/02/24 at 10:55 am).

The 32-year-old has been a one-club man and made a staggering 483 appearances, filled with trophies, dominance, high moments, special goals and Treble wins.

But it’s pretty clear that, for the long term, he isn’t in Brendan Rodgers’ plans, so this news dropping on deadline day shouldn’t be a surprise.

James Forrest has a contract that runs until 2025, so the club can still obtain some sort of transfer fee for him, if he leaves now.

And that might just prove to be the case, with Alex Crook dropping this Celtic transfer news live on talkSPORT on Thursday morning.

James Forrest to leave Celtic?

“It looks like Celtic could be quite busy,” said Crook. “I have just been told in the last few minutes they are open to offers for James Forrest.

“He has been there, for what, 15 years?! So, that could be an interesting situation.”

Celtic squad needs clearing

Many were left surprised when the club signed Nicolas Kuhn because the feeling was that another winger wasn’t needed.

But the fact of the matter is, that player is in the building, and now, the squad needs to be cleared and trimmed down, which would include Forrest leaving.

Whether it’s on deadline day, or in the summer, it’s pretty clear that he isn’t front and centre of Rodgers’ plans, even though he has been one of the greats for the club and such a magnificent servant.
