‘Keep an eye on him’ – Transfer expert wouldn’t rule out Evan Ferguson joining Celtic this summer

Evan Ferguson could be a possibility for Celtic in the summer transfer window, 67 Hail Hail have been told.

Brendan Rodgers is after a striker this summer to help provide competition for Adam Idah after the club decided to part ways with Kyogo Furuhashi.

Long-time target Mathias Kvistgaarden is unlikely to join Celtic this summer and is of interest to several Premier League clubs.

Meanwhile, Daizen Maeda refused to rule out a summer exit and with the Hoops looking to add a fifth straight league title to their trophy cabinet, fire power up top is needed.

Ferguson has struggled to recapture the form that saw him burst onto the scene as an 18-year-old at Brighton & Hove Albion, and Celtic could be the perfect destination to recapture his form.

Evan Ferguson could solve Celtic striker conundrum this summer

67 Hail Hail has been told by our transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey that a move involving Ferguson and the Hoops is one to “keep an eye on”.

Last season the Republic of Ireland international spent the second half of the 24/25 campaign on loan at West Ham United but failed to make an impact at Graham Potter’s side.

Bailey stressed that any move involving the forward would be a loan deal as the Seagulls still have faith he can return to his former self.

He told 67 Hail Hail: “What better place for him to get his form back, his confidence back than at Celtic?

“I’m told that it could happen and I think it makes sense for Brighton, makes sense for the player and makes sense for Celtic.”

How does Evan Ferguson compare to Celtic’s strikers?

Celtic currently have two senior out-and-out strikers on the books right now.

Idah and Johnny Kenny are the two competing for the spot right now and based on last season’s stats, Ferguson wouldn’t offer much more.

The Premier League and Scottish Premiership are different beasts though, admittedly and with fellow Ireland internationals in the Celtic squad, would be able to settle in easily and becoming the frontman for Rodgers.
