Kelechi Iheanacho is reportedly considering offers from Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

This week, Martin O’Neill confirmed talks with Iheanacho, voicing an urge to get the deal over the line as soon as possible.

The striker’s form for the back end of last season was essential in what was ultimately a league and Scottish Cup double.

Publicly, Iheanacho has indicated that he wants to stay – but reports claim that his mind isn’t fully made up.

🤦‍♂️ Still no sign of an agreement for either of these two Celtic favourites to stay…

Kelechi Iheanacho has ‘lucrative offers on the table’

According to Scott Burns of the Daily Record, Iheanacho has “a number of lucrative offers on the table”.

As well as the Middle East, there is also reportedly interest from Turkey and Major League Soccer. Bursaspor’s interest in Iheanacho has been well-documented.

It should be little surprise that Iheanacho is drawing the interest that he is given his top-level pedigree and impact in Scotland.

Despite limited playing time for much of the season, he scored six goals in his last nine appearances of the season, all from the bench.

Overall, he averaged a goal every 99 minutes – an exceptional record, significantly better than any other Celtic player last season.

O’Neill said on Iheanacho after Celtic’s friendly draw against Shelbourne: “I’d like to do something with him. That’s the point.

“Of course, if we can do something relatively quickly, at least he then gets started in pre-season, which is really important for him.

“It’s something he didn’t have last year. After about three minutes, he was injured against Sturm Graz and he then hurt himself in the League Cup Final as well.

“So that would be nice. I’m definitely pursuing that at this minute.”

Kelechi Iheanacho now in Nigeria

Iheanacho is now back in Nigeria, and recently featured in a charity match in Imo State alongside ex-Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu.

He is reportedly training alone in a bid to maintain his fitness ahead of the new season.

Last month, Iheanacho dropped a major hint on his Celtic future by posting a picture of him and his teammates with the caption ‘my team’ on social media.

This certainly indicates a willingness to extend his stay, but up until now, there has been no news of constructive talks between him and the club.
