Lennon Miller ballpark fee Celtic might expect to pay to land Motherwell star, Serie A bid rejected

Lennon Miller’s injury at Motherwell may well prevent him from making a move in January.

Celtic have scouted the playmaker and were recently told that £4million might be enough to land Miller.

Steelmen chief executive Brian Caldwell poured cold water on any Miller exit talk as he revealed the plan for their club captain before he got crocked but Celts were still pushing ahead with having him watched with a view to potentially moving down the line.

Chris Sutton advocated for Celtic to sign Miller while Pat Bonner issued a word of warning about the 18-year-old’s future as he insisted he has to play regularly to avoid stagnating.

Now, though, the supposed figure for Miller has reared its head again and is likely to still be in the same ballpark.

That is because Serie A side Udinese have reportedly had a bid for the talisman booted out by Motherwell.

Serie A side have £2.5m bid rejected by Motherwell for Lennon Miller

According to the Daily Mail, the Italian club put together a package of around £2.5m for the Fir Park side’s perusal but were told that it was “nowhere near” the valuation of the skipper.

Miller has four goals and six assists from 26 outings this season so far which would certainly have been added to had he not picked up an injury which ruled him out up to two months.

Motherwell are believed to want a lot more than the £3.5m they earned back in 2020 when they sold David Turnbull to Celtic.

We told you back in early December how Lennon’s Dad, Lee, had addressed Celtic’s interest in his boy.

The youngster was previously on the books at Parkhead but, for whatever reason, “did not enjoy it” as he wanted to play Boys Club in a bid to make a real fist of his career.

The rest, as they say, is history.

What Dad Lee has said about Celtic interest in Lennon Miller

“Lennon, when he was six was in at Celtic. Went through the pathway of six-week blocks. He was kept on,” Miller said.

“Then he got to the stage where he wasn’t really enjoying it, for whatever reason. He just wanted to play Boys Club. Took him back into Boys Club, then got scouted for Motherwell.

“Enjoyed the Boys Club feel, but good coaching. Then went from strength to strength. It was always a clear pathway.

“I know people say it’s a thing to talk about, but there has been a clear pathway for him.”

Premier League clubs have also been linked with Miller this season as the player continues to make waves.
