Mario Vuskovic was absent from Hajduk Split’s friendly match against Aris today, which Jutarni Sportske believe is related to a potential Celtic move.
The Croatian outlet says he is preparing for a move to the Bhoys.
It’s sparked feverish speculation amongst online Celtic supporters that the 19-year-old defender could be on his way to the Bhoys this week.
However, that’s not yet been corroborated and Vuskovic may well have missed the match for other reasons.
Vuskovic has been one of the summer’s primary transfer links. The same outlet reported this time last week that Celtic were on the brink of landing him for a fee rising to £5.16m.
However, the prospect of any move went quiet through the week, with no update until tonight’s report on his match absence.
Vuskovic is one of the finest young talents coming through for Croatia right now, starring in the country’s top-flight and winning caps with their U21 team.
Celtic badly need defensive options, especially with the future of Kristoffer Ajer in doubt.
Getting a quality centre-half in the door before the FC Midtjylland would ease a lot of anxiety for supporters. There’s currently an acceptance we may be ‘unleashing’ Nir Bitton in the position yet again for critical games.
Is Vuskovic the one?
