It’s that time of year again in the footballing calendar.
The trophies have been handed out, Celtic are champions of Scotland again, and now attention turns to the summer transfer market.
It was another campaign of dominance from Scotland’s most successful club, but it’s going to be interesting to see what road the powers that be go down when the overhyped, inflated and crazy transfer window re-opens.
Yes, the attention of the Celtic Park faithful will be on who enters the building, but there is some concern on who might head for the exit door.
At the end of the day, Celtic don’t want to lose their best players, but money talks, and if it is put on the table, then the champions have to sit up and listen.
Last summer, Celtic sold Matt O’Riley for a club-record fee to Brighton, and now another key name is being tipped to move.

Celtic fans react to the latest Daizen Maeda transfer rumour
Daizen Maeda was the best player in Scotland this season, and he rightfully picked up the PFA Player of the Year award.
But that comes at a price, and there are now suggestions that Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce want to sign Maeda, including the surprising transfer fee above his head.
The number ‘£9 million’ has been suggested, and it’s fair to say that it isn’t going down well with the supporters, who can’t see him moving to Turkey or going for such a low fee.
@TupacGoldnballs had a clear message: ‘Mourino thinks they are gonna bid £9mill and get maeda hahahahahaha 4 champions league goals 33 league goals 12 assists 4 Cup goals YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY OVER £25MIL FOR THAT pal.@CelticFC if the turks bid £9m tell them NEVER to bid again for their cheek’.
@BrennanMatin states what Celtic need to do: ‘We shouldn’t be entertaining any offers unless it’s silly money but this board is a doddrent story we need to build on the team not sell our best players’.
@stef18881 feels Maeda will have better options than Turkey: ‘Kvistgaarden, fed up hearing about him tbh, it’s just media churn, we won’t pay the money. Maeda will have much better options. I don’t need to tell how this transfer window will go, you already know. The incompetence is depressing tbh’.
@Mk2Maverick states what Fenerbahce would get for the reported ‘£9 million’ fee: ‘€13m Which leg is that for? 😂😂😂😂’
@GC67_ can’t see the move to Turkey happening: ‘He’s not going to Turkey. 😂😂😂😂’
Another unhappy fan who has noted the price mentioned, as @AbigailBur52081 adds: ‘Yer missing a 0 after the 3 dafty’.
The theme about the price continued, as @mcfadzean_neil added: ‘£13 million 😂’
@JimmyJungas hinted at what Maeda is worth: ‘Daizen Maeda to Fenerbahce? They don’t spend £25m plus on players, do they?’
@MrHughChegg saw the funny side: ‘Mbappe wanted by Celtic as interest in Madrid hero surges’.
Another Celtic fan who can’t see the Fenerbahce move, as @Jack67cfc added: ‘Aye well he’s not going there 😂😂😂😂’
Maeda’s Celtic season in numbers
Maeda has gone to the next level ever since Kyogo Furuhashi left Celtic in January, and that’s because he has been used down the middle a lot more.
Celtic fans will want to see that for a full season now because, not only on the domestic stage has he thrived and shone, but also in the Champions League.
Over the course of the campaign, the Japan international, whose national team manager stated Maeda has ‘shown that quality many times this season’ and has ‘superb skills’, has hit ridiculous numbers.
