Media insistent on Jota and Bernabei despite the continued Celtic wait
Another day, another wait to see if Celtic finally manage to announce the signings of Jota and Alexandro Bernabei.
Supporters have had to remain patient on both deals, despite reports that they are on the brink.
That pending status can lead to frustration but, in honesty, all signs point to a happy conclusion for everyone.
To be clear, I’m not criticising Celtic here. We know these multi-million-pound moves are complicated affairs for a variety of business and personal reasons.
There will be good reasons an announcement hasn’t been made yet, they aren’t just doing it to keep supporters on edge.
Press outlets remain insistent that the deals will go through.
Football Scotland, The Herald and Record in Portugal have all offered positive updates on the situation over the last 24 hours, indicating one or both players will be on the flight to Austria for a pre-season training camp next week.
Importantly, there hasn’t been a slither of a contradiction on this from any journalist or outlet, as far as I can see. No tweets, no reports, no comments on a podcast.
Everything suggests that a bit of double Celtic delight remains on track.
So while we might all be feeling like the knight at the end of Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade, it is truly just a case of taking a deep breath and trusting there will be no disappointment.
Ange Postecoglou is likely to have both at his disposal very soon.
That could just be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Celtic’s summer business with another defender, a midfielder and an attacker all expected to be added.
With more than two months until the transfer window shuts, I doubt anyone at the Bhoys is in a panic.
