Michael Stewart makes £5 million transfer claim about Celtic and Bojan Miovski after window closes

That striker Celtic fans were asking for arrived in January, but perhaps not in the way many would have wanted.

You can’t tell supporters that Adam Idah, who was struggling at Championship side Norwich City, was the first choice or someone who was at the top of Brendan Rodgers’ transfer wishlist.

Far from it, especially given that the Republic of Ireland star has only joined Celtic on a loan deal until the end of the season, that really signals short-term thinking and nothing else.

Michael Stewart was questioning why the Scottish Premiership champions didn’t just sign Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski, as he told The Scottish Football Podcast.

Celtic fans, unfortunately, got to see why he is so highly valued when he opened the scoring for his managerless side against the Bhoys on Saturday, who up until that moment, were under the cosh.

That showcased the 24-year-old’s worth and Michael Stewart feels a transfer fee of ‘£5 million’ would have been enough to tempt Aberdeen from parting ways with such a crucial player.

If you add in the troubles at Pittodrie this season, then it probably would have increased those chances, but those inside the four walls at Parkhead thought otherwise.

Should Celtic have signed Bojan Miovski?

“Bojan Miovski would walk into Celtic’s squad and be a great addition as an option for them,” said Stewart.

“You are telling me Celtic couldn’t have gone and spent £5 million. Aberdeen would have found it incredibly difficult to say ‘no’ to £5 million, yet they haven’t.

“For what reason? I don’t know.”

The young kid has nothing to lose. There isn’t much expectation on his shoulders because he is only here for the short term and he wasn’t the first name on everyone’s list.

If you want to go off Idah’s debut, then from his own selfish perspective, that was a positive start.

And you just never know in these situations, this could prove to be a masterstroke for the team and Celtic are then looking to sign him permanently in the summer.

If that happens, then something has gone seriously right for the player and the club, so fingers crossed that situation becomes a reality.
