Hammarby left-back Mohanad Jeahze has given a quick reaction after being linked with Celtic earlier this week.
On Monday night, the Scottish Sun reported that the Iraq defender was being considered for a move to Parkhead. This is reportedly due to Ange Postecoglou wanting a new defender in as soon as the transfer window opens.
Celtic have generally relied on Greg Taylor being fit when it comes to the left-back position this season. The likes of Liam Scales and Boli Bolingoli, meanwhile, have found opportunities hard to come by.
And Jeahze has made his transfer stance clear as he stated that he’ll only leave if he believes the option is better than what he currently has with Hammarby.
As quoted by the Scottish Sun, the Iraqi star said: “I can’t say much about that. I’ve always been very clear. If I am going to leave Hammarby it will be for something better than Hammarby. I love it here in Hammarby.”
When asked about the colour of Celtic’s strip matching that of Hammarby’s, Jeahze said: “Yes, it’s green and white!”

Jeahze certainly did his best not to give anything away here. He makes sure not to talk up a potential move and instead reaffirms his commitment to his current club.
However, this is likely a good sign for Celtic if we do indeed want to make a move. If Jeahze wasn’t interested in a move to Celtic Park then he could’ve just flat out have said so here. Instead, he makes sure not to.
An interesting choice of words from the Iraqi star too. He states that he’ll leave Hammarby but only for something better than Hammarby. Well, the fact Celtic are a much bigger club operating in a 60,000 capacity stadium with UCL football likely on the horizon most likely fits the bill.
It’s not exactly a come and get me plea for sure. But Jeahze certainly appears interested in the opportunity if we look beyond the surface.
Yesterday, we highlighted a clip that showed the international star’s impressive crossing range. The attacking full-back has been capped 4 times and was labelled as the best left-back in Sweden – including the national team [Scottish Sun].
All eyes now on whether we make a move. The player certainly appears intrigued.
